creative-business-podcast (1).jpg

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • How to discover your unique photography style

  • How to never run out of poses

  • How to establish a better workflow for healthy, mindful entrepreneurship

We all start somewhere. Every expert was once a beginner. I am definitely not the same person I was when I started photography. Through my journey as a photographer, I have encouraged people to be the hero of their own story. Everyone is the main character of their beautiful life, and you deserve to tell your story in a way that’s authentic to you! As a mentor for small business owners in creative fields, my goal is to empower you to achieve your artistic vision and do amazing work that both serves your clients and nourishes your creative soul.

The hero's journey is a test of character, strength, and skill. As the hero of your story, having a mentor to guide you through the challenges in your journey in the photography industry is incredibly important. After years of making many mistakes and finding a lot of success, I want to be the mentor that I never had (but needed!) to other aspiring creatives. Whether you’re a part-time hobbyist or have a dream to become a full-time photographer, I would be honored to do whatever I can to provide you with the tools you need to succeed as you begin your adventure in the world of creative entrepreneurship. The world needs your art and the beautiful stories it has to tell!

This creative business mentorship program is carefully tailored to meet the goals of the mentee. Expect to have fun – you’re working on your passion, after all. Expect to have patience for yourself, because learning new skills isn't always easy. Expect great things from yourself – you have so much potential. You are embarking on a new chapter of your journey, and I’m grateful to be there to support you!

Now and always, I’m honored to serve as a mentor for female entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs of color, and entrepreneurs from the LGBTQIA+ community. If you’ve ever felt like there isn’t space for you in the world of professional creatives, I’m here to tell you that you do belong, and your work is more necessary than ever. I want to help you realize that you have the power to create amazing things and give you permission to be your confident, amazing self in your business and your art.

CHOOSE YOUR PATH

  • Do I get to choose my images?
The default is editor's choice! When you offer me the trust to choose the images myself, I can create your final edited photo collection as quickly and efficiently as possible. I don’t take requests to view a proof gallery, since its distribution disrupts a consistent workflow and can increase the turnaround time.
  • Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! I want to make sure that money is not an obstacle to us creating amazing images together! I can offer customized payment plans to break any fees into smaller payments, which has been very helpful for many past clients. Please don’t hesitate to contact me regarding any financial concerns.
  • Do you travel outside of Charlotte, NC?
Yes! I love traveling and connecting with people from all over the world! I charge a travel reimbursement for anything further than a 30-mile radius from my current location (Charlotte, NC) to compensate for miles driven and personal time spent traveling. If you’d like to see the travel reimbursement breakdown, drop that request in the contact form!
  • What is your turnaround time?
Up to two weeks. Definitely keep this in mind, especially if you have any deadlines or due dates you need to meet! Rush edits are available on an individual basis with a rush charge.
  • Why is sales tax charged for photography services?
In the state of North Carolina, sales tax is due on all services that deliver a physical finished product, including photography sessions. The NC Department of Revenue considers digital images delivered via electronic download or USB, along with physical prints, wall art, and albums, to be tangible and taxable products. As such, photography session and event fees are also subject to sales tax.
  • Is a deposit required to book?
Yes, the nonrefundable deposit is $250.00 for all packages. The remainder can be paid in full or split into smaller payments through a customized payment plan. Once the deposit and completed session agreement are both received, you’ll receive a confirmation email to let you know your session is officially booked. Payments are made through an online invoice with several payment methods for your convenience, including credit card, debit card, Zelle, CashApp, Venmo, and PayPal.

  • Do you direct posing? I’m kinda nervous...
Yes, I GOT YOU! If you feel a bit nervous about posing, I promise you you’re not alone. Posing for model photography can be an unfamiliar experience that takes you out of your comfort zone, and everyone I work with feels those nerves on the day of the shoot. But posing for photoshoots is not some magical quality you’re simply born with – it’s a skill that you practice and learn over time. We all have the capability to showcase our unique beauty in front of the camera, and as your photographer, I’ll be there to direct posing and make sure you look good (and feel good about looking good)!

  • Can you photoshop/retouch my skin?
Yes, but I will only remove or change things that are not a permanent, essential part of who you are! I never do any type of body modification, because it can contribute to negative body image, which we’re all trying to fight against. The genuine representation of your body and your beauty is incredibly important in all of our journeys towards self-acceptance and self-compassion. I want you to love yourself how you are in the present! You’re already the complete package – there’s no need to mess with perfection.

  • What level of photography do I need to be at to sign up for mentorship?
Any level! No experience required. Each mentorship is carefully curated to match the goals and needs of each mentee. I am available for free consultations (up to 30-minute) via Google Meet for anyone who has more questions as they prepare for mentorship.
  • I’m not sure what I need to work on. Do you help with figuring that out?
Absolutely! When we’re getting started with any pursuit, it’s hard to know right off the bat which areas of our work need improvement. Part of our mentoring session can be dedicated to pinpointing your strengths and identifying areas where we could develop your skills further. Together we’ll figure out the direction we need to go!
  • Do I pay all at once or do you offer payment plans?
Either works! We can create a payment plan together that works best for you.
